Clinical Nurse (RN/LPN)

Position Summary

The Clinical Nurse (RN/LPN) provides comprehensive public health clinical services across the lifespan, including immunizations, laboratory specimen collection, point-of-care testing, response to communicable diseases, health screenings, reproductive health clinic support, and client education. This role supports programs that promote community wellness and disease prevention in DeKalb, Gentry, and Worth Counties. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Services
Administer vaccines per standing orders and vaccine guidelines (including VFC, adult vaccines, school immunizations, travel vaccines when applicable)
Perform venipuncture, fingerstick, and specimen collection for laboratory services
Conduct point-of-care testing (rapid flu, COVID-19, strep, pregnancy, glucose, Hgb, lead testing, etc.)
Complete vision, hearing, developmental, and other health screenings
Perform TB skin testing and readings; support follow-up as needed
Maintain clinical equipment, supplies, and inventory
Public Health Programs
Provide support tasks as needed (weights, heights, hemoglobin, appointment assistance)
Assist with school nurse support activities (screenings, health education, immunization reviews)
Participate in outreach clinics and community health events
Provide basic health education, resource referral, and client guidance
Documentation & Compliance
Chart all clinical services in EMR timely and accurately
Follow standing orders, CDC vaccine guidelines, and infection-control protocols
Maintain HIPAA compliance and client confidentiality
Participate in emergency preparedness drills and response as needed
Required Qualifications
Missouri RN or LPN license in good standing
CPR/BLS certification (or within 3 months of hire)
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for outreach
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in public health, outpatient, or community-based healthcare
Immunization experience
Knowledge of EMRs and basic computer programs (Google Suite/Office)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong clinical judgment and nursing skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small-team environment
Comfort working with infants, children, adults, and seniors
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods during clinics
Schedule & Work Conditions
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
No weekends / No holidays
Primary office-based role with occasional community outreach travel
